Self-Service Checklist What to Check Before Calling

Air Conditioner – No Cooling

  • Check thermostat settings. Be certain that the temperature control selector is set below the current room temperature, and that the system switch is on the COOL or AUTO position. The fan switch should be set to ON for continuous airflow or AUTO for the blower to operate only while the air conditioner is operating.
  • Attempt to get the air conditioner to turn on by lowering the thermostat setting to its lowest temperature selection.
  • If the air flow out of your registers seems weak, inspect the air filter. An excessively dirty air filter may block air flow.
  • Confirm that all registers are open and not obstructed.
  • Check the power disconnect switch by the indoor and outdoor units.
  • At the electrical panel, check the fuse/breaker for both the outdoor and indoor unit.

Heat Pump – No Cooling

  • Look at the settings on your thermostat. Confirm that the temperature control selector is set below the current room temperature, and that the system switch is on the COOL or AUTO position. The fan switch should be in the ON position for continuous airflow or AUTO position for the blower to operate only while the heat pump is operating.
  • Lower the thermostat to its lowest temperature setting to see if the heat pump turns on.
  • A dirty air filter may lead to low air flow out of your registers so check the condition of the air filter.
  • Make sure that all registers are unobstructed and open.
  • Check the power disconnect switch by each unit (outdoor and indoor).
  • Check the fuse/breaker at the electrical panel by each outdoor and indoor unit.
